Wipro3D, the Additive Manufacturing (industrial 3D printing) business unit of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering has entered into a strategic alliance with EOS, a global technology player to develop a complete suite of standard and customised additive manufacturing solutions, products and services, based on laser melting technology.

The alliance will target a wide range of industries including aerospace, space, industrial, automotive and oil & gas. Further, it will benefit both the new and existing customers of Wipro and EOS with the technically superior additive manufacturing solutions, practices and knowledge.

The alliance plans to deliver the complete value chain of additive manufacturing solutions from design to production, enabled through consulting, engineering design, DFAM (Design for Additive Manufacturing), materials research, custom parameter development, post processing, prove out, and production capabilities.

“We will soon set up a state-of-the-art additive manufacturing solutions-cum-experience center in Bangalore. The center will offer a unique hands-on experience to customers and help them explore and adopt next generation additive manufacturing technologies in their businesses,” said Pratik Kumar, CEO, Wipro Infrastructure Engineering.

A critical part of Wipro3D’s strategic blueprint is to create a robust ecosystem of aligned partners. The proposed solution center will act as a platform for other additive manufacturing solution providers, to participate in the Wipro additive manufacturing ecosystem.

Also commenting on the partnership, Ajay Parikh, business head, Wipro3D said: “There is an increasing interest in adapting metal additive manufacturing within enterprises, with needs ranging from prototyping to production volumes. This brings in a host of complexities that need to be addressed through innovative business and engagement models, deep domain competencies, prove out capabilities, process quality control, repeatability and reliability.  This alliance will help enterprises adapt metal additive manufacturing, in a systematic and sustainable way.”

Dr Adrian Keppler, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), EOS commented: “India is a key market and has a pivotal position in our global strategy. We believe this partnership will create value for both the companies. At the same time, it will further push industrialization of AM and will enable new applications based on our technology.”
