Wabco expands software engineering and services capabilities in India
The new unit will enable Wabco to significantly expand its software engineering and shared services capabilities.
Wabco India, the global supplier of technologies that improve the safety and efficiency of commercial vehicles, has opened a new 65,000 square foot facility in Chennai. The new unit will enable Wabco to significantly expand its software engineering and shared services capabilities.
The new facility will accommodate WABCO’s business services team of approximately 110 professionals. The team is dedicated to improving the cost effectiveness and efficiency of the company’s business operations worldwide. Wabco’s business services team will deliver advanced information technology solutions and business process optimixation based on leading international standards.
Since 2010, Wabco has more than doubled its software engineering talent pool in India to nearly 250 and expects to further grow its team by an additional 150 engineers over the next five years.
Speaking after the inauguration, Jacques Esculier, chairman and CEO, Wabco said, “This strategic expansion of Wabco’s software engineering and shared services capabilities in India marks yet another milestone for Wabco. We will further leverage Wabco India’s superb talent pool and cost efficiency to support and differentiate the development of advanced technologies to help improve the safety and efficiency of commercial vehicles around the globe. Wabco India is also taking a primary role in our efforts to drive efficiency and business process improvements across the company to continuously lower cost.”

Wabco India which designs, manufactures and markets conventional braking products, advanced braking systems, and other related air assisted products and systems employes over 3,200 people in India and registered Rs 1,368 crore of sales during FY2014-15.
