Volkswagen India launches Ameo compact sedan at Rs 5.24 lakh

Volkswagen has launched its first compact sedan, the Ameo in India. The car is priced from Rs 5.24 lakh for the base Trendline trim, going upto Rs 7.06 lakh for the Highline trim (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Volkswagen has launched its first compact sedan, the Ameo in India. The car  is priced from Rs 5.24 lakh for the base Trendline trim, going upto Rs 7.06 lakh for the Highline trim (ex-showroom, Delhi). The ex-showroom price in Mumbai ranges from Rs 5.14 lakh to Rs 6.98 lakh.

The Ameo has been introduced with Volkswagen’s 1.2-litre petrol engine that also powers the Polo, and will receive a 1.5-litre diesel engine along with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox later this year.

All three variants of the Ameo – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline –come equipped with ABS and dual front airbags as standard. 

The Ameo comes with quite a few first-in-class features like rain-sensing wipers and cruise control. It enters a very competitive segments which comprises cars like the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire and the Tata Zest.

Speaking at the launch, Michael Mayer, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said, “Our first ever made-for-India carline, Volkswagen Ameo underlines our philosophy of offering the best of technology and safety standards packaged at an attractive price.”
