There is a change at the helm of affairs at Volkswagen India. Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, is set to move to a new role in the organisation. Knapp was appointed to the role in June 2017. Ashish Gupta, currently Head of Sales Operations, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, will take over Knapp’s role.

During his tenure of a little over three years, Knapp significantly contributed towards redefining the brand positioning for India, improving the sales and aftersales service operations, building a strong and profitable network, and lowering the cost of ownership. He has also prepared the brand for the India 2.0 cars, set for rollout in 2021.

Before he took over the India assignment, Steffen Knapp (51) had held leadership roles at brands like SEAT and Ford in different parts of Europe and contributed to significant achievements made by the brands in their respective markets. Knapp holds a degree in Managerial Economics from European Business School Schloß Reichartshausen (EBS), Oestrich-Winkel, Germany and American Graduate School of International Management, Arizona/USA.
