TVS Tyres rides into premium motorcycle radial tyre segment

With the introduction of Protorq, the company looks to capitalise on the growing demand in the domestic market.

Domestic two- and three-wheeler tyre maker, TVS Srichakra, which manufactures products under the TVS Tyres has entered the premium motorcycle radial tyre segment with the launch of Protorq in Chennai.

The company sees the launch of Protorq as a strategic move as the sales of motorcycles above 250cc have been on a rapid growth over the last few years in India. With the introduction of Protorq, the company looks to capitalise on the growing demand in the domestic market. 

The tyre-maker claims Protorq has been built for the Indian roads by using the zero degree radial belt technology.

“The new tyres provide enhanced traction and reliable braking, excellent riding comfort, exceptional high speed stability, superior grip and less stiffness. Protorq is equipped with an innovative force-oriented tread pattern which improves its mileage and ensures maximum water drainage,” aid the company’s official statement.

Speaking at the launch in Chennai today, P Vijayaraghavan, director, TVS Srichakra, said, “Durability is the focus area for TVS Tyre range of products. Protorq high performance radial tyre is our answer to fulfill the customer needs and provide technologically superior products to keep pace with the dynamism in the market. Protorq is aimed at strengthening our leadership position in the two-wheeler tyre market and to reinforce customers’ faith in our world class products.”

For the first phase, the radial tyre is rolled out in select cities of South India, starting with Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Further, Protorq will also be available at TVS Tyres’ dealerships across Chennai.
