TVS Srichakra’s P Vijayaraghavan passes away

P Vijayaraghavan, Director of TVS Srichakra, passed away today. He was 72. He was instrumental in driving growth for the Madurai-based company which is a leading manufacturer of two and three-wheeler tyres and off-highway tyres and part of the TVS Group. 

Mr Vijayaraghavan was with the TVS Group for over five decades and played a pre-eminent role in the growth of TVS Srichakra. Right from its founding, he continued to be actively involved till his demise, as a director on the Board of Management. 

A veteran of the rubber and tyre industry and as an active member of several industry bodies, he played a pivotal role in the growth of the sector in India. 

TVS Srichakra, which started business by supplying to OEMs like Bajaj Auto and Kinetic Engineering, is said to be the largest supplier of tubeless tyres for two-wheelers. It recorded a CAGR of 15 percent between FY2009 and FY2019, when the industry clocked 9 percent CAGR. The company, which has an installed annual production capacity of 34 million tyres between its plants in Madurai and Uttarakhand, also exports to over 70 countries worldwide.
