After introduction of the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno last month, Toyota is gearing up for the launch of the new Glanza on March 15. It can be booked for Rs 11,000.

The Glanza is based on the Baleno, and in its current version, comes with minor aesthetic changes like a different grille to set it apart from partner Suzuki’s premium hatchback.

The second-generation model likely to get a new 9-inch infotainment system as seen debuting on the new Baleno, as well as come powered by a 90hp, 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine with idle-start-stop technology. The engine will be offered with a five-speed AMT or a five-speed manual transmission option.

First introduced in June 2019, the Glanza is Toyota’s offering in the passenger vehicle’s premium hatchback category where it takes on the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, and Baleno that dominates with over 60 percent market share. Over the last 12 months, an average of 2,000 Glanzas were sold per month.

The Glanza is part of the product-sharing strategy between Suzuki and Toyota under their global alliance, and is produced at Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat, and is sold by Toyota Kirloskar under the Toyota badge in India. The new model will sport a raft of connected car features, as well as come equipped with six airbags.
