Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has opened bookings for the BS VI-compliant version of its flagship MPV, Innova Crysta. The petrol and diesel variants of the BS VI-compliant Innova Crysta will be available in both manual as well as automatic transmission options. The BS VI Innova Crysta and Touring Sport are priced at Rs 15.36 lakh for the base petrol model and Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the top-end diesel model respectively. Bookings for the MPV are open for a limited period. The company says deliveries will begin from February 2020, across the country depending on BS VI fuel availability.

Prices start at Rs 15.36 lakh for the base petrol model and Rs 16.14 lakh for the entry-level diesel model. The emission tech upgrade to BS VI sees the BS VI petrol Innova Crysta’s price increase between Rs 31,000 to Rs 63,000, depending on the variant. Prices for the Innova Crysta diesel are up by Rs 59,000 through to Rs 130,000 for the mid-spec VX variants. The Innova Crysta Touring Sport, meanwhile, is pricier by Rs 41,000 to Rs 100,000.

Launched in May 2016, the Innova Crysta has been the undisputed leader in the MPV segment and remains popular with buyers for its luxurious features, comfort, safety, performance, low maintenance and high resale value. Since its launch 43 months ago, the Innova Crysta has sold a total of 265,312 units till end-November, comprising 11,890 petrol variants and 253,422 diesel variants. Overall, since its introduction in the Indian market in 2005, the Innova has seen cumulative sales of close to 900,000 units.

Toyota has chosen to introduce the BS VI Innova Crysta with only one diesel engine – the trusty 2.4-litre unit, which has been upgraded to meet BS VI norms with the help of a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The 174hp, 2.8-litre diesel – which was only available with an automatic gearbox – is not part of the Innova range now to keep prices in check.

According to Naveen Soni, senior vice-president, Sales & Service, “The government, auto industry and oil industry have together worked tirelessly with full commitment to usher in the cleaner BS VI emission norms in a record time. Under these norms, the regulatory vehicle emission limits for particulate matter 2.5 (PM 2.5) will be same irrespective of the size of the car as well as for cars that run on CNG, petrol or diesel.”

He added, “The Innova Crysta comes with BS VI-compliant engine, an improvement of the already powerful GD-Series engines, promising low emissions and higher efficiency. We believe this BS VI Innova Crysta will offer the best driving experience with powerful performance, luxurious features, comfort and most importantly safety.”
