Tata Motors says that has clocked sales of 1,100 cars in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh on September 17, which marked Ganesh Chaturthi which is considered an auspicious day to buy vehicles.
Of the 1,100 cars, over 700 cars were bought in Maharashtra and nearly 400 in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat. Tata Motors says it has witnessed an upswing in demand from cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Raipur and Bhopal, with the start of the festive season.
According to Ashesh Dhar, national sales head, Passenger Vehicles Business, Tata Motors, “The Zest, Bolt and the GenX Nano are witnessing growing momentum in the market.”
The manufacturer, which sold a total of 161,791 units in 2014-15 (-18.62% year on year), has sold a total of 62,614 units in the first months of the fiscal (April-August 2015), up 6.55% year on year. In August, Tata Motors sold 12,856 passenger cars.
