Tata Motors has launched the new SuperAce Mint small commercial vehicle, powered by a 1.4-litre DiCOR common-rail BS IV engine which develops 70bhp. The small pick-up, priced at Rs 5.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane), is targeted at intra- and inter-city transport.

According to Ravi Pisharody, executive director, Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, "Through the Ace Family, Tata Motors has created new vehicle categories by understanding the requirements of the Indian consumers. It offers best-in-class combination of power, mileage and load capacities, delivering superior margins in shorter turnaround time. Like the other members of the Ace family, we expect the Tata SuperAce Mint to become an indispensable business partner for millions of entrepreneurs and market load operators across the country."

Tata Motors says the vehicle’s USP is the strong chassis frame with a 2.5mm-thick long member and a 124mm x 63mm chassis cross-section, enabling it to withstand the stress of driving on bad roads and varied loading conditions. Driver ergonomics are a high point and along with a driver-friendly cabin, the SuperAce Mint comes with a standard power steering and blower. With the longest loading body in its class of 2630mm (8 feet, 7 inches) and a class-leading top speed of 125kph, Tata Motors says the SuperAce Mint promises more earnings per trip, which translates into a faster turnaround time. The vehicle delivers a claimed mileage of 17.9 kilometres per litre.

On the safety front, the vehicle gets three-point retractable seatbelts as well as side impact beams for protection in the event of collisions
