In line with the common practice these days of launching special or limited editions of cars to rekindle sales, Tata Motors has announced the launch of a special edition of its Zest sedan to mark the first anniversary of the car in the Indian market.

The limited edition Zest will be based on the manual transmission XMS model and will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. The car will sport a special anniversary badging, new body graphics, and a new colour, among other cosmetic upgrades.

The Zest anniversary edition will be available for sale starting end-September, in select showrooms, till October 2015. It will be priced at Rs 589,000 for the petrol variant (difference of Rs 15,000 on the current XMS model) and Rs 694,000 (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi) for the diesel variant.

According to Mayank Pareek, president, passenger vehicle business unit, Tata Motors, “We are delighted to announce that the Zest, which is the company’s first brand new product under its Horizonext strategy, has completed one year. Designed and developed with state-of-the-art features, the Zest has successfully exemplified the company’s focus on best-in-class product and service experiences. With the special edition, we celebrate its first anniversary with our customers.”

Launched in August 2014, the Zest has been among the most successful cars for Tata Motors in the recent past, and contributed to the recovery of its vehicle division in a substantial manner. The automaker had sold over 31,000 units of the sedan, the majority of them being diesel variants, till July this year. Now with a new variant, Tata Motors could expect sales to see an uptick.
