Tata Motors launches Movus UV at Rs 6.99 lakh

In a low-key launch, Tata Motors has launched the Movus UV, an all-new family vehicle in the entry-level UV segment.

In a low-key launch, Tata Motors has launched the Movus UV, an all-new family vehicle in the entry-level UV segment. Announcing the introduction, Ranjit Yadav – president, passenger vehicle business unit, Tata Motors, said, “The Movus is for large families as it is spacious, easy to maintain, economical for both short and long distances.”

The starting price of the Movus is Rs 6,99,000 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will have two variants - CX and LX. The vehicle which will be available at dealerships located in metros and select cities is powered by a 2.2 litre varicor engine. The Movus has a claimed mileage of 15.16 kpl and will come with an engine warranty of 3-years or 150,000 kms.

Priced about Rs 100,000 than the more basic Sumo Gold, the vehicle appears to be a stripped down Sumo Grande.  Tata is betting that the potential buyer will be ready to pay out more for the engine and features in the Movus.

In terms of tech specs, the Movus is fitted with independent double wishbone with coil springs in the front and parabolic leaf spring-type suspension for the rear wheels. The vehicle a 65-litre fuel tank, a ground clearance of 180 mm and  a long wheelbase of 2550 mm. It has 7, 8 and 9 seat configuration with front facing, side-facing and Captain seats. The Movus has a low-turning radius of 5.35 meters and a tiltable power steering system.
