Tata Motors launches the Hexa in Nepal

Tata Motors launches the Hexa in Nepal

Along with its aggressive new product and sales strategy for the domestic market, Tata Motors is also accelerating its export drive. Yestrday, the company launched its Hexa crossover in Nepal where Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors, handed over the keys to the first batch of 11 customers. Priced at NPR 77.95 lakh, the Hexa is available in the XT 4x4 variant across the landlocked central Himalayan country and a close neighbour of India.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Guenter Butschek said, “At Tata Motors we have always been at the forefront of providing a rich and dynamic product experience to our customers through our product innovations and the new Tata Hexa reinforces this commitment. We understand that our customers in Nepal are aspiring for more stylish, lifestyle-oriented products and the Tata Hexa is an important step in catering to these emerging customer needs. We are confident that this complete package will be an instant hit in a highly popular but immensely competitive segment and will surely excite new-age customers of Nepal."

The Hexa is powered by a 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine which develops 156PS / 400Nm. Additionally, the XT 4x4 is available with a six-speed manual transmission. The Hexa also features ‘Super Drive Modes’ which allow the driver to seamlessly switch between the four different driving modes – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road – to provide a choice of driving experience that is customisable to the terrain as well as to the mood of the driver.

Other product highlights include a new-generation Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Torque on Demand (TOD), customisable instrument cluster display and ambient lighting in the cabin.

The Tata Hexa also has projector Headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED tail-lamps, six airbags, traction control system, hill hold control, hill descent control, automatic headlamps and a 10-speaker JBL audio system.

Tata increases its PV market share in India
The Hexa, which was launched in India on January 18, 2017, has averaged monthly sales of 1,150 units, selling a total of 11,519 units till end-October.

In the passenger vehicle market, the Hexa, along with the Tiago hatchback, Tigor sedan and game-changing Nexon compact SUV, has given the company a shot in the arm.

In the April-October 2017 period, its passenger vehicle market share has risen to 5.78 percent from 5.70 percent a year ago with sales of 110,415 units. The company has made huge gains in the UV segment, recording 113 percent year-on-year growth. In the first seven months of FY2018, it has sold 19,737 UVs (April-October 2016: 9,254) and as a result increased its UV market share to 3.80 percent (April-October 2016: 2.08%).
