Tata Motors has launched the all-new Aria that comes with a new engine and a range of features. In addition, the vehicle comes several safety features. Autocar Professional had in its January 15 issue revealed that the Aria was set to get a refresh and a repositioning.
On the new Aria, which is priced at Rs 9.95 lakh, new stylised decals, clear lens tail-lamps and black bezel, double-barrel headlamps now further accentuate the exterior design.
Under the hood is a 2.2 litre Varicor engine that develops 148bhp and a high low-end torque of 320Nm for better pick-up and quick response. Fuel efficiency is an ARAI-certified 15.05km/litre, the company said. The new vehicle also features a new premium sound system from Harman’s JBL range.
Ankush Arora, SVP, (Commercial), Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “In line with Horizonext, we at Tata Motors have imbibed an aggressive four-pronged customer-focused strategy in the all-new Aria, giving a vehicle that is more powerful, more fun, more reliable and extremely safe.”
The Aria was launched two years ago but after selling close to 3,800 units in its first year, it ended last year with just 338 units sold. The vehicle, which is a top-end Tata crossover offering, has faced competition from the likes of the Mahindra XUV500. Even a 2WD version launched over a year ago failed to boost sales.
