Tata Autocomp and Katcon enter into JV for making wide range of exhaust systems

Tata AutoComp Systems (Tata AutoComp) and Katcon Global have signed a 50/50 joint venture agreement to provide exhaust systems and emission after-treatment systems to the Indian automotive industry.

Tata AutoComp Systems (Tata AutoComp) and Katcon Global have signed a 50/50 joint venture agreement to provide exhaust systems and emission after-treatment systems to the Indian automotive industry. The JV will be headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra.

The JV will be focused on designing and delivering innovative exhaust systems and emission after-treatment solutions to the Indian automotive industry. The range would cover cutting-edge exhaust solutions for passenger cars, utility vehicles, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, busses, farm tractors and off-road vehicles. The product offering will include solutions for both the hot end and cold end of the exhaust system namely, catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters, selective catalytic reduction, mufflers and silencer modules.

Tata AutoComp, which provides products and services to the Indian and global automotive OEMs as well as Tier 1 suppliers, has its own capabilities in automotive interior and exterior plastics, composites, sheet metal stampings as well as engineering and supply chain. It has 4 joint ventures in partnership with leading global auto component companies through which it manufactures and markets automotive components and systems like engine cooling solutions, automotive batteries, rearview mirrors, command systems, HVAC and suspensions for heavy commercial vehicles. Tata AutoComp has 29 manufacturing facilities spread across India including one in China.

Katcon Global (Katcon) is one of the leading exhaust and after-treatment Tier 1 global suppliers in the industry and is headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico. Katcon’s product portfolio includes solutions for petrol and diesel engines, from light to heavy duty, and applications that range from motorcycles and ATVs to on- and off-road heavy duty vehicles. Katcon has extensive design, engineering, analysis, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing resources in 4 technical centres located in Auburn Hills, MI; Monterrey, Mexico; Shanghai, China; and Luxembourg; as well as manufacturing facilities in India, Mexico, United States, Venezuela, South Africa, Australia, China, Poland, and Korea.
