SIAT 2015 opens in Pune tomorrow

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), which provides technical expertise in R&D, testing, certification, homologation and framing of vehicle regulations, is in association with SAE India and NATRiP, organising the 14th Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT) at the ARAI Campus on Vetal Hill, Pune from January 21-24.

At a press conference held today in New Delhi, Mrs Rashmi Urdhwareshe, director, ARAI; Ambuj Sharma, additional secretary of Department of Heavy Industry; Raman C V, executive director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India; and Vishnu Mathur, director general, SIAM, announced the agenda of SIAT 2015 that is also pegged as ‘Design in India’ platform in accordance with prime minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign. The overall theme of SIAT 2015 is ‘Safer, Cleaner and Quieter World’.

Mrs Urdhwareshe said, “ARAI has been playing a crucial role in assuring safe, less polluting and more efficient vehicles. We work closely with the government and industry to make automobiles efficient and safe. ARAI provides technical expertise in R&D, testing, certification, homologation and framing of vehicle regulations. As part of our strong focus on emissions and safety, we are proud to bring SIAT that serves as an important forum for exchange of ideas and brainstorming for the automotive industry. SIAT 2015 is focused on emissions and safety, and assembles the best talent in the automotive industry to share their thoughts on how to ensure increased vehicular safety and emission performance.”

On January 21, Anant Geete, Union minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, will inaugurate SIAT 2015, in the presence of Vinod K Dasari, MD, Ashok Leyland and president, ARAI and Rajan Wadhera, vice-president, ARAI and chief executive (Technology, Product Development & Sourcing & Member of the Group Executive Board), Mahindra & Mahindra.

Nitin Gadkari, Union minister for Road Transport and Highways, and M C Dathan, director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, will be the chief guest and guest of honour respectively at the valedictory function on January 23.

Over 1,500 delegates from 25 countries will present over 215 research papers at SIAT 2015. Additionally, 44 keynote papers will be presented by eminent experts from India and overseas. Distinguished speakers, representing the top six major vehicle manufacturing countries like China, United States, Japan, Germany, South Korea and India, will discuss technology options for producing safe, environment-friendly and roadworthy vehicles, in a panel discussion on ‘International Mobility beyond Boundaries’.

The SIAT Expo 2015, being organised concurrently, will see 95 automotive and allied manufacturers from around the world, showcase their products, equipment, innovations and technologies that will attract automotive OEMs, Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers, equipment providers, CAD/CAM/CAE tool providers and other service providers.
