Suzuki Motorcycle India has begun exporting its made-in-India flagship Gixxer motorcycle to Japan. This is the company’s first India-built motorcycle that will be sold in Suzuki Motor Corporation's home market.

Commenting on the recent despatch of 720 made-in-India Gixxers, Satoshi Uchida, managing director, Suzuki Motorcycle India, said, “It is a very proud moment for all of us as we send our Indian flagship motorcycle Gixxer to Japan. We already export the Gixxer to markets in Latin America. The export of made-in-India vehicles to Japan denotes the high-quality benchmarks established by Suzuki Motorcycle India and its expanding global role.”

He added, “Exporting the Gixxer to Japan would also mean showcasing the advanced technology and superior quality standards within the competitive price range that have been developed by Suzuki Motorcycle in India. We are confident that the Gixxer will be well accepted by Japanese consumers as well.”

The Gixxer is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with a five-speed gearbox. The variant being exported to Japan has fuel injection and a rear disc brake.
