An interactive session was held at Spark Minda, part of the Ashok Minda Group on August 11, for members of the ACMA - Young Business Leaders’ Forum (YBLF).
The aim of the forum is to groom young business leaders from the auto component industry through sharing of experiences for meeting challenges in establishing and running a successful family owned business with special focus on succession planning.
The session saw Ashok Minda, Group CEO, share his years of experience in building the Spark Minda Group. The session had five phases beginning with a focus on the legacy of the Group; major milestones; challenges and handicaps faced during implementation of growth plans; succession planning for the Group, Minda’s expectations from the automotive industry, and future expansion plans of the Group.

During the discussion, participants were shown the renowned self-help book ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’ by Dr David Schwartz, which Minda considered the source of constant motivation for him.
The session was attended by over 35 representatives of leading component suppliers including executive directors from Steelbird Auto Components, PPAP Automotive, Dorset KABA, Makino Auto Industries, Omax Autos, Oswal Castings, AGRIM Tools and Victora Tool Engineering.
Some key raised by the participants included deciding factors for selection of companies for joint ventures and acquisitions. Addressing the many queries, Ashok Minda spoke about the current aftermarket scenario, maintaining the organisation’s stability when there is a paucity of important resources, arranging finance and handling the organisation during turbulent times, selection of the right advisor for the organisation and its selection process.
