Kia Motors India has announced its sales figures for the month of November and the carmaker has only good news to share, courtesy two of its well-received products – Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet. Its total sales tally stood at 21,022 units in the festive month, a 50 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth (November 2019: 14,005).

The new Sonet compact crossover which was launched in September is continuing with its assault in the segment and recorded volumes of 11,417 units to emerge as the No. 1 selling UV in the compact segment where arch rivals include Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and upcoming Nissan Magnite which launches tomorrow.

Meanwhile, elder sibling Kia Seltos went home to 9,205 buyers and to an extent remained strong on its feet to bring customers into Kia Motors India’s showrooms, albeit registering a 34 percent YoY decline in its absolute sales numbers, which could be owing to the fact that there is increased competition in the form of the new Hyundai Creta now being available in the market.

According to Kookhyun Shim, managing director and CEO, Kia Motors India,“I am delighted to witness the wide acceptance we have received in India for our vehicles. Since the Covid-19 outbreak, we were quite hopeful about the festive month and the results are overwhelming. Not only urban, but customers from Tier 2,3 and 4 markets too are acknowledging the need for personal mobility to maintain personal safety.”

“While there is still a lot of uncertainty in the market due to the pandemic, the overall consumer sentiment has significantly improved and we are all prepared to offer a safe and hassle-free ownership experience to our customers. We are expecting the market sentiment to improve more in coming months and we are confident that we will be able to continue this positive momentum in future as well,” Shim added.
