Czech carmaker Skoda has introduced the new fourth-generation Octavia sedan in the Indian market, priced at Rs 26 lakh for the Style variant and Rs 29 lakh, ex-showroom, India, for the top-end Laurin & Klement (L&K) trim.

The new-generation model gets a complete rework of its design, with latest elements including a large Skoda family grille upfront, flanked by LED headlamps and a muscular bonnet with sharp creases. A strong character line also runs from the front to the rear along the window line and the side profile of the new Octavia sends the tell-tale signs of the increased 19mm length. The car comes with diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels and the rear profile gets sharply-designed LED tail lamps as well.

On the inside, the cabin gets a black-and-beige two-tone theme with leather upholstery. The dashboard design is simplistic, yet gets modern touches in the form of a floating 25.4cm touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities. It also supports the MySkoda Connect remote app. The stereo comes mated to a 12-speaker 600W Canton sound setup.

Some unique design elements on the inside include the two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel that gets scrollers for volume control as well as paddle shifters. In the background is a fully digital instrument cluster that also allows setting up mood tiles and changing the footwell lighting.

The new Octavia also gets a wireless mobile phone charger, but misses out on ventilated front seats and a sunroof as well.

In terms of powertrain, it comes equipped with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that delivers 188bhp and 320Nm. The engine comes mated to a sole 7-speed wet-clutch DSG transmission option.

The company has also equipped the new 5-star rated Octavia with eight airbags, adaptive front lighting system, iBuzz fatigue alert system, ESC and TPMS.

The new Skoda Octavia will be offered in five paint options including Lava Blue, Candy White, Magic Black, Brilliant Silver, and Maple Brown, with the last two exclusively available with the L&K trim.
