SKF India opens distribution centre in Chakan, Pune

Spread over 64,000 square feet, the India Distribution Centre (IDC) will significantly improve SKF’s distribution and logistics footprint in India.

SKF, the manufacturer and supplier of ball and roller bearings and rotating equipment performance products, inaugurated its new centralised distribution centre at Chakan, Pune.

Spread over 64,000 square feet, the India Distribution Centre (IDC) will significantly improve SKF’s distribution and logistics footprint in India.

The centre is strategically located in the industrial belt of Maharashtra and in the vicinity of key automobile manufacturers, it is also well connected with the factories to ensure better availability of stocks and to serve the customers at the shortest possible time. 

Commenting on the occasion, Christer Cedervall, director -Logistics & Demand Chain, AB SKF, said, “India is an increasingly important market for SKF and in order to further improve the logistics structure and serve its customers better, the company has invested in this world-class centre. The centre combines the latest logistics infrastructure with SKF best practices in its logistics operations worldwide. It will allow us to reduce delivery lead times and provide a wider range of products to our customers and distributors.” 

Also commenting on the occasion, Shishir Joshipura, managing director and Country Head, SKF India said, “At SKF, we continuously strive to create better experiences for our customers and this centralized distribution centre reinforces our commitment. It will enable us to significantly improve the support and service to our customers and distributors by reducing lead time and by lowering their inventory. This facility is also aligned towards the impending GST implementation.”
