Bangalore-based electric vehicle start-up Simple Energy which launched the its tech-laded flagship e-scooter ‘Simple One’ on August 15 at Rs 110,000 (excluding state subsidies), has pushed the delivery dates once again. Originally slated to be delivered in the festive season (Oct-Nov) of 2021, the company says it will begin deliveries by June 2022.

The Simple One claims to have one of the best-in-class acceleration, top speed and range (upto 236km) in the electric scooter category.  Powering the Simple One is a 4.5kW motor that develops a claimed max torque figure of 72Nm. This motor gives the scooter a claimed 0-40kph time of 2.95sec. The claimed top speed, meanwhile, is 98kph or 105kph, depending on the tyre choice. The electric scooter has four riding modes – Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic. The One also sends its power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The company claims it has received over 30,000 bookings.

In a tweet on social media, Suhas Rajkumar, founder and CEO, Simple Energy said, “Consciously decided to not rush to mass production but instead work on improving the scooter further.”

While not much details are known, it will be interesting to see if Simple Energy is able to live upto its commitment.
