Technology major Siemens is among the many global companies with a presence at SIAT 2019, the three-day automotive technology conclave that opened in Pune yesterday. The company is showcasing its end-to-end partnership solution mainly through digitalisation (Stall No. 106).
The automotive industry is the technological trendsetter among manufacturing industries. It keeps evolving at a fast pace and is a driver of the new era of digitalisation. Digitalisation is increasingly enabling OEM and suppliers to fast-forward their new product development cycle more efficiently, both time- and cost-wise.
Siemens Industries Software says companies across industries are moving towards digitalisation. As the time for product development lifecycle reduces, digital production, validation and product realisation are what will drive growth for stakeholders in the automotive industry.
The company says the main driver for any industry is legislation and policies. For India’s automotive industry, the upcoming BS VI emission norms and downsizing of engines will be the growth drivers of the future.
According to a Siemens Industries Software spokesperson, “Electrification is a buzzword but it requires a complete ecosystem comprising EV charging infrastructure, indigenisation and resources.”
The company says it has invested around $10 billion in the past 10 years towards digitalisation.
Siemens says through its participation at the SIAT Expo, it aims to communicate its forte of enabling better and faster testing and simulation. The company says its digital simulation solutions for the automotive division registered a growth of around 25 percent in CY2018.
