Schaeffler India opens wi-fi enabled Distribution Centre

With a total area of 100,000 square feet, the warehouse is Schaeffler's largest external warehouse in Asia Pacific.

Schaeffler India has inaugurated its largest Consolidation and Distribution Center (CDC) in Hosur, one of four such centres it plans to open across India. Through the centre, consolidated material will be moved from all plants to the South region, enabling material handling and faster delivery. 

With a total area of 100,000 square feet, the warehouse is Schaeffler's largest external warehouse in Asia Pacific and to support wireless scanner utility and other digitized activities, the distribution center is fully Wi-Fi-enabled. 

A function was held to inaugurate the facility in Hosur in the presence of Harsha Kadam, CEO, Schaeffler India; Sameer Mathur, COO, Schaeffler India; and Stefan Kinscher, head of supply chain and logistics Asia Pacific along with the other leaders of Schaeffler India.

Harsha Kadam, said, “The state-of-the-art distribution facility enables us to strengthen our logistic footprint in India. The centre is capable of running automated and digitised operations and will help us to improve material handling and facilitate faster delivery, advancing our capabilities towards our customers, true to our claim and efforts of pioneering motion. It will also improve sustainable practice in our plants by reduction in waste and material consumption through the utilization of returnable packaging.”
