Royal Enfield’s Continental GT café racer has registered total cumulative sales of 3,582 units between April-December 2014, according to SIAM data. Of these, the company has sold 2,339 units in the domestic market while the export sales stand at 1,243 units. This is against the total cumulative production of 3,430 units of this model during the ongoing fiscal.

Royal Enfield, which launched the Continental GT model in November 2013, had sold 125 units of this model in December 2013. The sales of this model remained flat for December 2014, when it sold 130 units.

The company, which had clocked total domestic sales of 944 Continental GTs between November 2013– March 2014, has so far sold 3,283 units in the domestic market ever since its launch. This marks an average sale of 253 units of this model per month in India.

On the export front, total dispatches stand at 2,310 units of this model, with an average of roughly 178 units per month ever since its launch in India.

The company has so far rolled out 5,951 units of the Continental GT from its Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu as against the total sales (including exports) of 5,593 units since the launch of this model. This also means that the company management is keeping a close watch on not building any excessive inventory of this café racer.

The Continental GT, which is spearheading the growing popularity of the café racer culture among bikers in India, is powered by a single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled 535cc engine producing a maximum power output of 29.1bhp. The model has an on-road price tag of close to Rs 214,000 in Mumbai.

As of December 2014, Royal Enfield has a total production capacity of 300,000 units combining both its plants at Thiruvottiyur and Oragadam.
