Electric motorcycle maker Revolt Motors has expanded its retail presence in Southern India with the opening of its new store in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

This is the company’s first store in the city and 17th across India. With the growing demand of EVs in the state, the company will also open two more retail stores in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on December 8 and 13, 2021 respectively.

What is drawing EV OEMs to these  two states is the handsome incentives. The Tamil Nadu government is offering incentives to EV OEMs ranging from full reimbursement of state GST paid on vehicle sales to exemptions from electricity tax for manufacturing units and a 15-20% subsidy on land cost. There’s also full exemption from motor vehicle taxes for BEVs until 2022, as well as creation of EV parks in major auto manufacturing hubs and locations.

The Andhra Pradesh government also has introduced policies to encourage faster adoption and manufacturing of EVs. The state government offers various subsidies for customers like 100% road tax exemption for newly-purchased EVs. Andhra Pradesh’s EV policy supports every aspect of electric mobility and is focussed on accelerating the adoption of EVs.

Fast-growing network
Revolt is fast expanding its retail network. In October, it opened new retail stores in Bangalore and Surat, Gujarat and on November 22, inaugurated its first showroom in Andhra Pradesh in Vizag. The goal is to enter 50 new cities in India including Chandigarh, Lucknow and NCR by early 2022. Last week, Revolt Motors opened its first retail store in the West Bengal region in Kolkata.

All the new stores are set up by retail partners and will not only act as sales points but also give customers an opportunity to experience the e-bike and go through the design, the charging process and how the installation of the charging points take place. Customers can also get a sense of their riding patterns after the test ride.

Revolt Motors is currently operational in Bengaluru, Jaipur, Surat, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Vizag.

The RV400 comes with a 3KW (Mid Drive) motor, powered by a 72V, 3.24KWh Lithium-Ion battery that develops a top speed of 85kph. The MyRevolt App offers connectivity features such as bike locator/Geo fencing, customised sounds, complete bike diagnostics, battery status, historical data on rides and mileage, and also the option of locating the nearest Revolt Switch Station to swap the battery.

The RV400 features three riding modes – Eco, Normal and Sport – each suiting to the riding style and needs of the driver. Also, comes with Upside Down (USD) forks up-front and a fully-adjustable mono shock at the rear.
