Ola and Mumbai's BMC partner to provide transport for healthworkers

Ola, India’s leading mobility platform has partnered Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to support essential mobility during Covid-19. Ola says it has provided a dedicated fleet of cars to BMC, in order to help ferry medical staff, healthcare workers and paramedical staff from homes to hospitals in Mumbai.

The vehicles will also be used to ferry doctors and BMC officials across Mumbai to help the frontline warriors fight against Covid- 19. 

Rajesh Tope, Health Minister, Maharashtra government said “We are happy to partner with Ola and help ferry doctors, health-care workers and hundreds of frontline workers to help them perform their essential duties. We look forward to working with Ola to find more ways of helping Mumbaikars in our fight against Covid-19 in the true spirit of the city.”

Anand Subramanian, spokesperson and head of Communications, Ola said, “We stand committed to our resolve of ensuring help to as many people during these turbulent times. This partnership will play an essential role in transporting Covid warriors like frontline and healthcare workers who are helping us in these crucial and testing times. We are thankful to BMC for the opportunity and will continue to work with them to enable essential mobility in Mumbai.” 

The mobility platform is working closely with authorities to ensure all drivers and cars are equipped with essentials like masks and sanitizers and will also make certain that the earmarked cars will be thoroughly disinfected regularly.

Recently, the company launched a new category called ‘Ola Emergency’ in Bangalore, Vizag, and Nashik, to help citizens get to hospitals for non-Covid related medical trips. Over the course of the lockdown, the company has implemented a host of measures intended to bolster support for citizens, drivers’ community. Recently, Ola Group pledged donation of Rs 5 crore to the PM-Cares Fund to support Covid-19 relief measures at a national level and also committed Rs 3 crore towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds of multiple states.
