Honda Cars India has commenced production and despatches of its new face-lifted Amaze sedan from its manufacturing plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The official launch is on August 18, 2021.

Speaking about the development, Rajesh Goel, senior vice-president and director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India, said, “After the successful ramp up at our manufacturing plant streamlining supplies for all models, we have begun the mass production and despatches of the new Amaze to ensure availability of cars across network from the time of launch.”

The company recently opened pre-launch online bookings for the new Amaze at the ‘Honda from Home’ platform on the company website or at authorised Honda dealerships across the country.

The Amaze, currently in its second generation, is Honda’s largest selling model. First launched in April 2013, the sedan has clocked cumulative sales of 445,853 till end-June 2021, comprising 281,264 petrol variants and 164,589 diesel variants.

The Honda Amaze is powered by 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine and 1.2L i-VTEC petrol engine available in manual and CVT versions for both fuel options.

At present, Honda India retails the City and Amaze sedans, the Jazz hatchback, and the WR-V compact crossover. The company is also readying the launch of the City hybrid in India this year, but a launch timeframe for that model is yet to be revealed. Going forward, Honda plans to introduce an all-new midsize SUV based on the City’s platform by 2023. This new SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Tata Harrier when launched.
