MG Motor strengthens its base in India with new corporate headquarters in Gurugram

MG Motor India’s new headquarters in the NCR region is expected to go operational by Q2 of 2019. The company has plans to open more such facilities in the metros of India, starting with Mumbai.

MG Motor strengthens its base in India with new corporate headquarters in Gurugram

British carmaker MG (Morris Garages) Motor’s India leg MG Motor India inaugurated its new corporate headquarters in Gurugram. The new commercial space costing Rs 150 crores will house the company’s flagship vehicle showroom in India and brand store on the ground floor of the same building to showcase its products. It will house functions such as after sales, sales, marketing, product planning, dealer development, finance and corporate affairs.

The 46,000 square feet office is going to be prepared in the next two months and employees of MG Motor India would be shifted to the new premises before the launch of the Hector. The company also plans to exhibit the brand’s rich heritage and the latest MG memorabilia and accessories.

Expected to be operational by Q2 2019, the MG Motor India claims that the location of the new headquarters will allow the company a close access to the policy-makers, as well as tap into the enormous potential of the Delhi-NCR auto market, which accounts for 25 percent of the entire country’s car sales. The company plans to open company-owned showrooms in key metros of the country, starting with Mumbai.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director – MG Motor India, said, “India is going to be a key market for the MG brand and the new HQ reflects our long-term commitment to be an integral part of the thriving Indian auto market, in addition to our Halol manufacturing facility, which was inaugurated in September 2017. With a strong foundation and best talent from the industry in our team, we are ready to go full throttle for the Hector SUV, our first launch in Q2 2019.”

Rajeev further added, “Designed under the ‘Queen’s Necklace’ British design theme, the look and feel of the office will be reminiscent of a classic British Street. A specially designed “getaway” area will enable employees to de-stress via games like PlayStation, Foosball and more. Even the cafeteria has been designed like a coffee shop, to encourage an open working culture. We have set a new benchmark in the country with a workforce that comprises of 31% females, the highest in the auto industry. In the corporate office, the ratio of female employees is as high as 40%. It is also recognised as an environmentally-friendly facility under the ‘Indian Green Building Council LEED India 2011 Core & Shell – Platinum & GRIHA v2015 – 4-star’ certification.”
