MG Motor India sells 2,105 units in July, up 40% YoY
The carmaker says that the three-row Hector Plus is seeing “encouraging traction for its top trims across markets”.
MG Motor India says it has recorded a 40% year-on-year increase in retail sales for July 2020 – 2,105 units (July 2019: 1,508).
Commenting on the overall sales performance in July 2020, Rakesh Sidana, Director – Sales, MG Motor India, said, “The overall market environment continues to be challenging with uncertainties due to variable lockdowns in various phases. The component supplies continue to remain impacted especially from the Chennai region. However, despite these challenges, our production has remained at similar levels in July as compared to June 2020 and we expect the situation to improve during the festival season.”
On July 13, MG Motor India launched the three-row Hector Plus and has reported “encouraging traction for its top trims across markets”. Introductory prices start at Rs 13.49 lakh for the base petrol Super trim and go up to Rs 18.54 lakh for the top-spec Sharp diesel trim. MG is positioning the new Hector Plus as an option for chauffeur-driven SUV buyers with captain’s chairs for the middle row being the talking point. The third row, as MG puts it, is intended ‘for teenagers’. The Hector Plus is available in a total of eight versions, including four trims and four engine-gearbox combinations.
