MG Motor India today announced that it has clocked total retail sales of 1,518 units in March 2020. This includes 116 units of its ZS EV, and 1,402 units of the Hector. As per Autocar Professional's sales estimates, this takes total sales of the Hector in FY2020 to 21,680 units since July 2019, averaging 2,408 units a month.  The ZS EV has sold a total of 274 units since its launch on January 23, 2020. This takes MG Motor India's FY2020 cumulative sales to 21,954 units. 

Commenting on the sales performance for March 2020, Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, “Both the Hector and ZS EV have made a mark in the Indian car market. Despite supply chain disruption globally, MG Motor continues to serve its customers. In February, our sales were impacted due to the disruption, while the situation improved during March before the lockdown was announced, resulting in the shutting down of our manufacturing plant.”

“Our current focus is on the health and well-being of our employees and their families, as well as the society at large. In this pursuit, we have also announced Rs 2 crore grant towards procuring gloves, masks, medicines, ventilators, and beds; and are working closely with the local administration in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodara) to support their requirements,” Chaba added.

With zero stock of BS-IV units of the Hector across its dealerships and its factory, the carmaker has recently started production of BS-VI variants; however, the company says it currently has very low BS-VI inventory at its dealerships and its manufacturing facility in Halol.
