MG Motor India refreshes 2021 Hector SUV line-up

Carmaker has introduced mild aesthetic changes while also introducing the 7-seat Hector Plus variant.

MG Motor India today introduced the updated 2021 MG Hector line-up with the launch of the Hector SUV at prices ranging between Rs 12.90 lakh to Rs 18.33 lakh, ex-showroom, all-India.

MG Hector has been launched between Rs 12.89 lakh to Rs 18.32 lakh, ex-showroom, all-India. The updated 2021 MG Hector gets a new thermo-pressed grille with a diamond-studded chrome design at the front, gun-metal grey skid plates at both front and back, and a revised 18-inch machined alloy wheel design that is a size bigger from the outgoing model.

On the inside, the SUV gets a new black-and-champagne colour interior layout which enhances the sense of space and airiness inside the cabin. The company has also introduced wireless charger and ventilated front seats for added passenger comfort.

In terms of connectivity, the 2021 MG Hector gets external WiFi connectivity for its 10.4-inch  portrait-oriented iSmart touchscreen infotainment system alongside remote control via Apple Watch and a combination of English and Hindi voice recognition commands as well.

New Hector Plus 7-seater
The company also introduced the new seven-seater Hector Plus in order to complete the entire MG Hector line-up to now offer configurations of five, six and seven seats to suit varied customer requirements.

While the six-seat MG Hector Plus was launched in July 2020 and comes priced between Rs 16 lakh and 17.75 lakh, ex-showroom, the seven-seat variant has been introduced between Rs 13.35 lakh and Rs 18.32 lakh, ex-showroom, all-India.

The company will continue to offer the MG Shield package that offers five-year warranty, road-side assistance and labour-charge free five services on the Hector range.

The MG Hector which essentially is the SAIC’s Baojun 530 under its skin comes powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol rated for 143bhp and 250Nm and a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel that makes 170bhp and 350Nm of torque, both available in their BS VI -compliant avatar. The petrol engine also comes in a 48V hybrid form and DCT automatic option. The Hector offers six airbags, ESC and 360-degree camera for added safety to driver and co-passengers.

MG has sold over 40,000 units of the Hector SUV in India since its launch in July 2019. The company has expanded its network to about 250 touchpoints across 65 cities in the country.
