Messe Frankfurt targets 200 exhibitors for Automotive Engineering Show in Chennai in 2015

Acquiring the Automotive Engineering Show (AES) from its previous organiser three months ago, Messe Frankfurt India Trade Fair organised its eighth edition in Pune at Auto Cluster Exhibition Centre (Chinchwad) on May 29-31, 2014. While the trade fair in Pune saw over 100 participants, the Indian subsidiary of one of the world’s leading trade show organisers, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, plans to double the exhibitor count for next year’s edition in Chennai.

Talking to Autocar Professional, Raj Manek, managing director, Messe Frankfurt India said: “The AES has a great industry platform and has a potential of going global. While this has been basically organised in Pune and Chennai alternatively each year, we plan to now take the fair to a metropolitan city, which possibly would be Delhi, if things go as per our plans. Also, with our expertise of organising similar trade fairs, we plan to organise the same on a larger scale bringing in a bunch of international clients, who trust our brand.”

The organisers say that the AES is an annual event and is also the country’s only trade fair focused on the technologies for automotive manufacturing.

Last year’s edition of AES in Chennai had seen participation from 120 exhibitors attracting over 5,600 industry visitors, representing OEMs as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.

For the Pune edition this year, the AES had collaborated with automotive experts to host a technology zone, where officials addressed queries from exhibitors and trade visitors on specific technology lines. The technology zone had two sections to cover the diverse applications in manufacturing processes – the learning centre and the metrology centre. While the former focussed on the concepts of plant management systems, the latter highlighted the conceptual understanding of modern measurement systems. For instance, Voith Industrial Services along with RMM Consulting, Asia Automation and SAP Parts had set up one such learning centre.

Some of the exhibitors in the Pune event this year were Elesa and Ganter India, Shree Systems, Praj Industries, IFM Electronic India and Henkel. Interestingly, Sri City, the Tamil Nadu-based developer of the integrated business township, was also present, scouting for possible small and medium scale companies.
