Mercedes-Benz India launches S400 at Rs 1.31 crore
The S400, which will be locally assembled in India, is part of the carmaker’s strategy to introduce 12 new products to its portfolio in 2016.
German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz today launched a variant of its flagship S-Class sedan, the S400, in India at Rs 1.31 crore (ex, showroom Hyderabad).
The S400 comes with an extensive scope of equipment such as 7-colour ambient lighting, air suspension, four-zone automatic climate control, COMAND multimedia system, a 1540 watt, 24-speaker Burmester sound systems, rain sensing panoramic sunroof, seat massaging function, and parking assist as standard.
Safety features include eight airbags, electronic stability program, brake assist, hill-start assist and Mercedes' PreSafe safety technology along with attention assist.
While Mercedes does offer the powerful V8 and V12 options in its S-Class range in India, the S400 gets the relatively ‘modest’ V6 petrol powering from the E-class cabriolet. The 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged unit produces 329bhp and 49kgm of torque, and is mated to Merc’s 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic gearbox.
The S400 is part of the carmaker’s strategy to introduce 12 new products to its portfolio in 2016. The sedan will be locally assembled in India, and is a replacement for the S500 Maybach. The S500 will still be available in India, albeit as a CBU, as Mercedes-Benz has stopped assembling the car here.
Mercedes-Benz India also inaugurated its first 3S dealership in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, thus expanding its total reach across the country to 83 outlets across 40 cities.
