Mercedes-Benz India today inaugurated its first 3S dealership in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, which is seeing increased economic prosperity.
The new dealership – Mahavir Motors Vijayawada – was inaugurated by Roland Folger, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, and Yashwant Jhabakh, Group chairman, Mahavir Motors. The state-of-the-art 3S dealership will cater to Vijayawada and the entire central Andhra Pradesh market including cities like Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Guntur and Prakasham.
Folger said, “Vijayawada is an established industrial city and is fast developing into an emerging market with a strong growth potential for luxury cars. The increasing customer base for Mercedes-Benz in Vijayawada reiterates our confidence in the market, resulting in the creation of a world-class luxury dealership like Mahavir Motors. It was important for Mercedes-Benz to expand its footprint in this important market. With a top-class infrastructure in place, we are confident that Mahavir Motors Vijayawada will be able to successfully tap the potential of the market.”
Folger added, “In 2016, we will launch 12 new products, some products without a predecessor and inaugurate 10 new outlets, driving into new markets with a focus on Tier II markets like Vijayawada. We are confident of maintaining our strong performance for the year and aim for a sustainable and profitable business in India. It is emerging markets like Vijayawada that strengthens our belief in the India growth story even more.”
Mahavir Motors Vijayawada is spread across 20,000 square feet and can display four cars. It also has four service bays and a team of 25 trained personnel in the workshop which can handle work on 4 cars simultaneously. It has capacity to service approximately 90 cars a month.

Mahavir Motors was first appointed as a dealer for Mercedes-Benz in 1998 and has over the years spread across Andhra Pradesh and Telengana. It has since won several recognitions from Mercedes-Benz India including the Best Sales Team, Best Performer, Excellence in Territory Development, Customer Relationship Management and Maximum Insurance contracts. Till date, Mahavir Motors has sold close to 3,500 Mercedes-Benz cars.
With this latest outlet, Mercedes-Benz has expanded its India network – the most widespread network of any luxury car maker in the country – with 83 outlets across 40 cities. The expansion drive will continue this year with the inauguration of 10 new outlets.
The German carmaker, which recorded strong 32% growth in 2015 with sales of 13,502 cars, is aggressively pushing ahead with its India growth strategy. It now has 23 outlets across 10 cities in southern India where the market for luxury cars grew by a notable 40% in 2015 and contributed 27% to the company’s national sales in the year.
