Tata Motors has announced the appointment of Mayank Pareek as its president, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (PVBU), with effect from October 1, 2014.

He takes over from Ranjit Yadav, who moves to Tata Motors’ international operations (for cars and CVs) as president. Pareek will also be a member of the corporate steering committee.

Pareek resigned from Maruti Suzuki a few weeks ago, having worked with the carmaker for over two decades. His last role at Maruti was as the chief operating officer, heading marketing and sales which included domestic marketing and sales, dealer development, product development, used car business, outbound logistics, spare parts and accessories, aftermarket services and international marketing and sales.

Tata Motors will be expecting to harness Pareek’s extensive experience in the passenger car market, particularly in view of the recent launch of its all-new Zest sedan and its new Horizonext growth strategy.

Pareek, who began his career in 1982 with BHEL in the manufacturing function, joined Maruti Udyog in 1991. He has a post-graduate diploma in Business Management from IIM, Bangalore and a B.E. from the Indian Institute of Technology, BHU.
