Maruti Suzuki to open hospital and a school, commits Rs 125 crore

Maruti Suzuki India will completely fund the hospital and school projects with an investment of around Rs 125 crore over a 5-year period.

Maruti Suzuki to open hospital and a school, commits Rs 125 crore

Maruti Suzuki India today announced to undertake two mega projects under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The Company laid the foundation stones for a Multispeciality Hospital and a Senior Secondary School at Sitapur, Gujarat.

R C Bhargava, chairman, Maruti Suzuki, Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, Pankaj Patel, founder chairman, Zydus Hospitals and Harsh Podar, director, Podar Education Network jointly laid the foundation stones for the projects. The dignitaries were joined by senior management from Maruti Suzuki, Zydus Hospitals, Podar Education Network, Suzuki Motor Gujarat and leading automobile component makers of the region.  

On the occasion, Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Suzuki Group has set up its manufacturing plant in Hansalpur and continues to invest in the region. While we expand our businesss, we feel that it is our responsibility to positively impact the local community in the adjoining villages. Through a need assessment we found that access to quality and affordable healthcare and education was an urgent requirement in this area. To meet this need, we have partnered with two of the most prominent names in respective sectors. Through these projects we aim to improve the quality of life for the communities around our manufacturing facilities. I thank all the team members from Maruti Suzuki, SMG, Zydus Hospitals and Podar Education for their commitment and hard work.”

We are confident that these pioneering initiatives will help to improve quality of life in the region.” Ayukawa added.

The hospital and school projects will be fully funded as CSR initiatives by Maruti Suzuki India Limited with an investment of around Rs 125 crore over a 5-year period.

Hospital Project
Maruti Suzuki has partnered with Zydus Hospitals, a leading provider of healthcare services, to set up a multispeciality hospital in Sitapur. The hospital will be managed and operated by Ramanbhai Foundation, the CSR arm of Zydus Group.

The hospital is expected to serve over 3 lakh people residing at Sitapur and adjoining villages at affordable charges. Starting with a 50-bed facility, the hospital will be progressively expanded to 100 beds. The facility spread over 7.5 acres, will be one of its kind in the area with super specialisation services like emergency care and trauma services, advanced diagnostic services, critical care for stabilisation in life threatening conditions, mother & child care,  eye care, ENT, internal medicine, general medicine with cardiac care facilities. Neurology, Urology, and Nephrology will be added in a phased manner depending on need.

Earlier, in September 2018, Maruti Suzuki had partnered with Zydus Hospitals to set up a modern Polyclinic (Health centre) facility at Becharaji village, Mehsana district.

School Project
With an endeavour to provide quality education to children in its adopted villages, the company has decided to build ‘Maruti Suzuki Podar Learn School’ a senior secondary school in Sitapur. The school will be built in a phased manner, initially with primary wing followed by senior secondary school.

In order to provide the best quality education the Company has partnered Podar Education Network, a leading name in educational services in the region. The school will be affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education and Podar Education Network will design the curriculum. The school will focus on offering education with emphasis on overall personality development of the students. The company believes that open spaces, well equipped classrooms and qualified teachers will bring quality education to students in the rural belt of Sitapur and adjoining village communities.

The school will be spread over 7.5 acres encompassing a primary wing, senior wing and administration block. Additional facilities like auditorium and swimming pool will also be built over a period of time.
