Maruti Suzuki India has reported sales of 62,996 factory-fitted CNG vehicles in FY 2014-15, a growth of 23 percent over 2013-14. The contribution of CNG vehicles to its total sales increased to 5.4 percent from 4.9 percent in FY 2013-14. Maruti sold a total of 1,170,702 cars in 2014-15.

The company, which was the first automaker in India to introduce factory-fitted CNG cars in India in 2010, currently has six dual-fuel (CNG + petrol) models on sale – the Alto, Alto K-10, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga.

CNG emits a negligible amount of PM10 and PM2.5. In metros like Delhi and Mumbai where the CNG distribution infrastructure is in place, Maruti says there  is good demand for the green variant of the Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga.

Maruti employs its proprietory Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPi) technology on its factory-fitted CNG cars. i-GPI works on Dual-ECU (Engine Control Unit) technology, which helps deliver an accurate amount of gas to the engine.
