Maruti Suzuki reports Rs 78,104 crore revenue in FY2018, up 16.7%

The net profit was impacted on the back of increase in effective tax rates and lower non-operating income due to mark-to-market impact on the invested surplus.

The country’s largest carmarker Maruti Suzuki India today announced its financial result for FY2017-18, it reported revenue of Rs 78,104 crore, an increase of 16.7 percent YoY. In the fiscal the company sold a total of 1,779,574 units, up 13.4 percent compared to same period last year.

In FY2017-18, Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 1,779,574 vehicles up 13.4 percent YoY. The sales in domestic market stood at 1,653,500 units up, 14.5 percent, while exports were at 126,074 units. The net sales stood at Rs 78,104 crore, a growth of 16.7 percent over the same period last year.

While it reported operating profit of Rs 9,303 crore, a growth of 20.1 percent compared to same period last year, on account of higher sales volume, and cost reduction efforts, which was partially offset by adverse commodity prices. The net profit for the year stood at Rs 7,721 crore, up 5.1 per cent. The net profit was impacted on the back of increase in effective tax rates and lower non-operating income due to mark-to-market impact on the invested surplus.

For Q4 FY2017-18, the OEM sold a total of 461,773 units (domestic 427,082 units and export 34,691 units), a YoY growth of 11.4 percent. The net revenue was Rs 20,594 crore, up 14.4 percent YoY. The operating profit came at Rs 2,312 crore, a growth of 24.4 percent compared to same period last year, which it states was on the account of higher sales volume, cost reduction efforts, which was partially offset by adverse commodity prices and higher advertisement expenses, while the net profit stood at Rs 1,882 crore, up 10 percent, which was impacted due to the increase in effective tax rate.
