Maruti Suzuki India has issued a recall for 33,098 cars (comprising 19,780 units of the Alto 800 and 13,318 Alto K10s) to inspect and replace the right-hand door latch assembly manufactured between December 8, 2014 and February 18, 2015. The carmaker says the problem was noticed on the basis of internal quality checks.

Maruti says the problem does not arise if the right-hand-side doors (front and rear) are completely latched. However, if the doors are half-latched, then they might open if pressure is applied from inside.

Maruti’s dealers will contact owners of all the affected vehicles, after which workshop technicians will inspect the car and carry out the necessary replacement, free of cost.
