Maruti Suzuki ramps up Vitara Brezza production to meet surging demand

Maruti Suzuki says the demand for the Auto Gear Shift model is around 49 percent in Mumbai and 39 percent in Delhi. The top variants (Z/Z+) contributed 61 percent of total sales.

The country's biggest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki today announced that it is ramping up production for the Vitara Brezza to reduce the waiting period for the SUV. The company says the SUV has witnessed its sales grow by over 10 percent during April-October FY2019. Autocar Professional broke the news about the Brezza crossing the 350,000 sales milestone earlier this morning.

In fact, the carmaker has notched its best-ever monthly sales for the SUV this October: 15,832 units. Maruti Suzuki India today said that it has increased production of the Vitara Brezza by around 10 percent to 94,000 units during April-October 2018-19 compared to the same period in 2017. In terms of model demand, the company says its Auto Gear Shift model was as high as 49 percent in Mumbai and 39 percent in Delhi. And the top variants (Z/Z+) contributed 61 percent of total sales of the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Announcing the increased production and availability, R S Kalsi, senior executive director - Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “The high demand for our popular models such as the Vitara Brezza is a testimony of our best-in-class technology, design and customer experience. With the Suzuki Motor plant operational at its full capacity of 250,000 units annually in Gujarat, we are able to increase the output. We are confident that with the reduced waiting period, we will be able to enhance the car buying and ownership experience of our customers.”

In FY2017-18, Maruti Suzuki sold 148,462 units of the Vitara Brezza, and during the first seven months (April-October) of FY2018-19, the company clocked sales of 94,869 units for the popular SUV.

Launched in March 2016, the Brezza achieved the fastest 300,000 sales mark in the SUV segment in just 28 months. Maruti Suzuki has sold 357,534 units of the Vitara Brezza cumulatively since launch.
