Maruti Suzuki launches Grand Vitara CNG at Rs 12.85 lakh
Passenger vehicle market leader expands target buyers with introduction of CNG variant of the Grand Vitara SUV; claims fuel-efficiency of 26.6 km/kg.
Four months after it launched the new Grand Vitara in India, Maruti Suzuki today introduced the CNG version of the SUV in two variants – the Delta (MT) priced at Rs 12.85 lakh and the Zeta (MT) which costs RS 14.84 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the company has expanded its CNG model range to 14 models.
Powered by the company’s proven K-series 1.5-litre, petrol engine, the Grand Vitara CNG develops peak power of 64.6kW at 5500rpm and max torque of 121.5 Nm at 4200rpm in CNG mode. Offered with a five-speed manual gearbox, the Grand Vitara S-CNG delivers a claimed fuel-efficiency of 26.6 km/kg. To put things into perspective, the Baleno CNG delivers 30.61km/kg.
Announcing the introduction of Grand Vitara S-CNG, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said “Since its launch in September 2022, the Grand Vitara has received a resounding response from Indian consumers, thanks to its SUV appeal complimented by multiple future-ready powertrains. The introduction of the S-CNG option further expands the appeal of the Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara S-CNG will contribute to our aggressive plan to widen our green-powertrain offerings, expanding to 14 models.”
Pricing, rivals and subscription details
The Grand Vitara CNG costs Rs 12.85 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Delta variant and Rs 14.84 lakh for the Zeta. The equivalent mild hybrid petrol option on the Grand Vitara costs Rs 11.90 lakh and Rs 13.89 lakh respectively, which is cheaper by around Rs 1 lakh when compared to the CNG option.
Maruti Suzuki says the Grand Vitara CNG can also be subscribed via a fee starting from Rs. 30 723. There is no direct rival for the Grand Vitara CNG at the moment in the Indian market.
