Maruti Suzuki launches BS VI CNG Ertiga at Rs 895,000

Having sold a million eco-friendly CNG and hybrid cars in the past decade, Maruti Suzuki India plans to achieve the next million of green car sales in the coming two-odd years. Today, the carmaker, which has eight of its most popular models with CNG power and has sold over 600,000 such cars, expanded its CNG portfolio with the addition of the BS VI-compliant Ertiga S-CNG MPV. Priced at Rs 895,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Ertiga VXi CNG BS6VI delivers fuel efficiency of 26.08 km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki S-CNG vehicles are equipped with dual interdependent ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and an intelligent injection system. The vehicles are specially tuned and calibrated to deliver optimum performance and enhanced drivability across all kinds of terrains.

Speaking at the launch of the BS VI compliant Ertiga S-CNG,  Shashank Srivastava, executive director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India said, “The Ertiga has been a market leader amongst MPVs, and the introduction of BS VI S-CNG will further help augment its leadership in the segment. Being the first company to introduce factory-fitted CNG cars in the country, today we proudly own the largest portfolio of green vehicles. We would like to thank our customers for their confidence and trust in our products.”

The launch of Maruti Suzuki’s S-CNG vehicle range is aligned to the government of India’s vision of reducing oil imports and enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country from 6.2% now to 15% by 2030. The government is working to rapidly increase CNG fuel pumps network in the country.
