Maruti Suzuki India today launched the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift, with prices starting from Rs 589,000 for the base LXi petrol variant and going up to Rs 880,000 for the top-spec ZXI+ AGS model (ex-showroom, Delhi). The facelifted model features both cosmetic and mechanical changes, and is between Rs 6,000 to Rs 21,000 more expensive than the pre-facelift car.

The updated Dzire comes with a sole 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K12C DualJet petrol engine, which is also available with the Baleno. This new engine produces 90hp (7hp more than the engine it replaces). It is worth noting, however, that unlike the unit in the Baleno, the DualJet engine-equipped Dzire is not being offered with Maruti’s SHVS mild-hybrid system to keep prices in check. That said, the engine does get idle start-stop tech, which will help maximise fuel economy. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT), with the latter being offered with the K12C DualJet engine for the first time. Fuel efficiency for the Dzire facelift is rated at 23.26kpl for the manual version and 24.12kpl for the AMT version.

In terms of styling, the overall design has been kept intact with the most notable change coming in the form of the new grille design up front. There is a new front bumper and new fog light housings on offer along with new, precision-cut dual-tone alloy wheels.

What's inside?
The Dzire's dashboard layout remains unchanged albeit the 2020 model features Maruti Suzuki’s new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Additionally, there’s new dual-tone upholstery and faux wood trim, and Maruti Suzuki has also included auto-folding ORVMs, a colour TFT screen for the MID and cruise control. AMT variants of the Dzire facelift get additional safety in the form of Electronic Stability Programme and Hill Hold Assist offered as standard.

The refreshed Dzire will continue to compete in the highly competitive compact sedan segment and it will face off against the likes of the BS VI-compliant Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Hyundai Aura, and the Tata Tigor facelift in India.
