Maruti Suzuki India sales grows by 2.3% YoY in October

Country’s leading carmaker which has been taking quite some beating over the past few months in the form of declining sales, profits as well as production numbers, has today come out with some positive news announcing its October sales numbers.

Maruti Suzuki has recorded overall passenger vehicle sales of 139,121 units in the month, registering a 2.3 percent year-on-year growth (October 2018: 135,948). The company saw growth coming from two of the most crucial sub-segments – compact cars and UVs.

While its sextet of the new Wagon R, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and Dzire clocked 75,094 units (October 2018: 64,789 / +15.9%), the Alto and the S-Presso collectively went home to 28,537 buyers (32,835 / -13.1%).

Its quartet of the Ertiga, XL6, Vitara Brezza and the S-Cross UVs registered sales of 23,108 units (20,764 / +11.3%) but the Ciaz continued to slump to 2,371 units (3,892 / -39.1%). The two vans Omni and Eeco too dipped to 10,011 units (13,668 / -26.8%).

The overall positive impact on the company’s sales could be attributed to the spirited mood of the buyer in the festive month, where most dealers have observed good retails during Navratri, Dussehra, Dhanteras and Diwali. While this could still be a temporary revival in the market sentiment, Maruti’s numbers do hint at a good month for other manufacturers too.
