Mahindra readies new TUV300 Plus for launch
The replacement for the Xylo, the new Mahindra TUV300 Plus will get a 120hp, 1.99-litre engine.
Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the lengthened version of the TUV300 SUV. Slated to be called Mahindra TUV300 Plus, this new SUV will hit showrooms in the coming months.
A first set of leaked images reveal the TUV300 Plus in its production form. The body now looks more proportionate as compared to the shorter version. M&M has tweaked the rear styling a bit and the TUV300 Plus gets new-design tail-lamps that extend to the sides.
While the TUV300 Plus shares most of its exterior and interior bits with the sub-four-metre TUV300, it will come with a different powerplant under its hood. The Mahindra TUV300 Plus, as reported by Autocar India earlier, gets a 120hp, 1.99-litre engine. This is the same motor that is available exclusively on the Mahindra Scorpio sold in the Delhi-NCR region.
It is understood that the SUV will be available in multiple seating configurations, with the lower-spec trims getting as many as nine seats.
The new TUV300 Plus will replace the ageing Xylo in Mahindra’s line-up. The Xylo is based on an older platform and has been on sale in India since 2009. It was given a comprehensive update in 2012 and a minor refresh in 2014, though it didn’t quite make an impact in the segment.
Additionally, M&M is also gearing up to launch the U321 MPV, which will take on the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta, before March 2018. It will be followed by an all-new compact SUV (Code: S201) expected in mid-2018 that will be based on the SsangYong Tivoli.
The carmaker has also confirmed that a new SsangYong Rexton will arrive in India by Diwali 2018 with a Mahindra badge.
