Mahindra launches XUV500 Sportz to ride rebound in sales

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched a limited edition of its XUV500, the XUV500 Sportz built on its W8 model.

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched a limited edition of its XUV500, the XUV500 Sportz built on its W8 model. Priced at Rs 13.68 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), the SUV comes with a slew of premium features and plush interiors, the company said. These features include new decals, alloys with signature red inserts, a rearview camera and leather-fabric seats as well as stylised roof rails in red

According to Vivek Nayer, chief marketing officer, Automotive Division, M&M, “The limited edition XUV500 Sportz is for discerning customers, aligns with our leadership position in Indian motorsports and rallying and reflects our sporty, DNA very well. We believe that it will create a new benchmark in exclusivity to further enhance the XUV500's appeal among customers.”

The XUV500 Sportz is powered by M&M’s mHawk engine mated to a six-speed transmission which has a fifth-generation VGT. The vehicle also gets a six-inch infotainment system with GPS, DVD, CD, MP3, FM, USB, iPod connectivity and a slew of other features across lights, tyres, temperature control and safety.

Last week, Dr Pawan Goenka, executive director and president, M&M, had said sales of the XUV500 had witnessed a rebound in Q4 of 2013-14. M&M sold 9,925 units in Q4 as against 5,775 units in Q1, 6,399 units in Q2 and 7,879 in Q3 of the last fiscal year.
