Mahindra launches BS VI Supro ambulance at Rs 694,000

The company says the first batch of the ambulance has been manufactured exclusively for the Maharashtra government to meet their requirements for ambulances in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched BS-VI Supro ambulance, which it says is developed in house on the company’s popular Supro van platform. The ambulance will be available in two variants – LX and ZX – with starting price of Rs 694,000 (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The company says the first batch of the ambulance has been manufactured exclusively for the Maharashtra government to meet their requirements for ambulances in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Veejay Nakra, CEO – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra “As a caring and responsible corporate citizen, Mahindra wants to enable people to rise by driving positive change in their lives. The launch of Supro ambulance to support medical care takers to move people safely and in time, is a clear testimony of this philosophy. This is one more step by Mahindra to fight the pandemic, in addition to manufacturing of face shields, ventilators and sanitisers.”

“We are delighted to partner the government of Maharashtra in their efforts to fight the pandemic. The first batch of 12 vehicles have been produced in record time and delivered to them already. Several other government organisations, NGOs and corporates have also shown active interest in procuring the Supro Ambulance. Hence, we are quickly ramping up the capacity to add this growing demand. This is the most affordable solution fitted with all necessary equipment and complying to all norms,” added Nakra.

The Supro ambulance, is factory fitted with all the essential equipment including a foldable stretcher cum trolley, medical kit box, provision for an oxygen cylinder, fire extinguisher along with internal lighting, flame resistant interiors, and an announcement system. On the exterior, the ambulance is equipped with AIS 125 certified retro reflective decals, 75 percent frosted windows, and a beacon light with a siren.

The variants have been developed to assist medical and health services, especially during the ongoing global pandemic. It is driven by Mahindra’s diesel engine, which delivers 47 HP and 100 Nm of torque. The company says the compact dimensions of the ambulance enables easy manoeuvrability on Indian roads, resulting in faster movement of patients requiring critical care, and saving more lives.

The Supro Ambulance comes with a warranty of 2 years/60,000km. The members of the UDAY program receive a lifetime insurance of Rs 10 lakh along with other benefits. In addition, the Mahindra dealer network and technicians will enable easy repairs and maintenance.
