Mahindra Jeeto Load mini-truck turns four, sells nearly 114,000 units

Mahindra & Mahindra's Jeeto Load mini-truck has completed four years in the Indian market. Launched on June 23, 2015, the Jeeto replaced the Mahindra Gio which was phased out.

Since the Jeeto's launch, Mahindra & Mahindra has sold nearly 114,000 units of the Jeeto Load, which is targeted at last-mile transportation of goods. On August 30, 2018, M&M rolled out the landmark 100,000th Jeeto.

In the past few years, India’s mini-truck segment (less than 2 tonnes) has seen rapid growth on the back of rising rural market demand and last-mile connectivity.

The Jeeto helped M&M, which traditionally has been strong in the 2-3.5-tonne gross vehicle weight (GVW) pick-up segment, to make gains in the mini-truck segment classified as ‘max mass not exceeding 2 tonnes’ where Tata Motors is the dominant player with its Ace range of mini-trucks. Within the first six months of launch, it helped M&M double its market share.

As per Autocar Professional's estimates, the Jeeto has sold close to 115,000 units since launch four years.
FY2017: 46,271
FY2018: 30,662
FY2019: 31,916
Apr-May: 5,000* (estimated for first 2 months of FY2019)
Total: 113,849

Powered by the mDura direct Injection diesel engine, M&M says the  Jeeto delivers robust fuel efficiency of up to 33.4 kilometres a litre. It also offers lower maintenance costs and the ability to carry varied load options effectively, all of which are aimed at improving earnings of Jeeto transport operators.

The Jeeto is offered with 2 powertrains of 8.2 kW (11hp) and 11.9 Kw (16hp), 2 payloads (600 and 700kg) and 3 deck lengths of 1630mm (5.5 feet), 1780mm (6 feet) and 1930mm (6.5 feet).These combinations are available across a range of 8 mini-trucks, namely S series (S6-11, S6-16), L series (L6-11, L6-16, L7-11, L7-16) and X series (X7-11, X7-16). The Jeeto has a warranty of 2 years/40,000km (whichever comes earlier).

The Jeeto's highlights include large cabin space, comfortable seats, pleasant driving experience, mobile charging facility and easy manoeuvrability.

Commenting on the Jeeto's four-year run, Satinder Bajwa, Vice-President – Small Commercial Vehicles, Mahindra & Mahindra, said: “The Mahindra Jeeto has been a game- changer in last-mile distribution with its modular range, unmatched versatility and superior fuel efficiency, carrying goods across different segments for the last four years. It has always been our endeavour to understand and address the evolving needs of our customers in areas such as performance, comfort, safety, reliability and profitability.”

Four years after its launch, the Jeeto seems to be doing in the marketplace just what its name (in Hindi) signifies.
