Maharashtra government lauds Volkswagen India for its skilling programme

The felicitation function was held to recognise the continuous support and investment of organisations to impart skill and improve employability of youth in the state.

Volkswagen India was recently awarded a certificate of appreciation for the initiatives undertaken for advancement of the government ITI in Pimpri, Maharashtra. The felicitation function was held to recognise the continuous support and investment of organisations like Volkswagen India were making to impart skill and improve employability of youth in the state.

The company says it has always been at the forefront when it comes to contributing to the overall development of the environment and community it operates in. The certificate of appreciation was presented to Volkswagen India by Governor, C Vidyasagar Rao in the presence of the Minister for Skill Development and other dignitaries.

Speaking of the recognition, Gurpratap Boparai, MD, Volkswagen India said, “We are privileged to be felicitated by the government of Maharashtra as one of the active corporate participants working towards upgrading the government's ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in Pune district. Volkswagen is committed towards government’s skill development initiative and is continuously taking steps towards making ITI students’ future ready and employable.”

“Volkswagen India has been actively contributing to the development of the communities through different initiatives like enabling education, supporting access to healthcare and promoting environmental conservation. Over the years, this vision and determination has enabled us to touch thousands of lives, contribute actively towards the betterment of society,” added Boparai.

The carmaker says such initiatives help improve the employability of the students graduating from ITI and who are willing to work in manufacturing sector. Through such programs, the students get exposed to actual work environments and gain practical knowledge. Volkswagen says it is committed towards improving the quality of education and has tied up with various institutes across the country to develop course modules that are in sync with the requirement at the shop floor in the auto industry.
